Ebell Long Beach Wedding DJ & MC

The Ebell of Long Beach is one of Southern California’s most elegant historic wedding venues. Known for its Spanish architecture, grand staircase, and expansive event spaces, the venue offers couples a setting that feels both timeless and celebratory.

Weddings at Ebell Long Beach typically unfold across several connected areas within the building. The celebration often begins with a ceremony in the courtyard, followed by cocktail hour in the Parlor to the left and surrounding spaces before dinner moves into the Grand Hall hidden behind curtains during ceremony. Once dinner and toasts conclude, the evening transitions back into the courtyard where the dance floor opens.

Because the celebration moves between several areas within the venue, experienced DJ and MC coordination helps keep the evening flowing from ceremony to cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. It is key to politely direct guests from one area to another as they are only steps from one another.

As a preferred vendor at Ebell Long Beach, I’ve worked closely with the venue team and understand how to manage sound and transitions throughout the property.

I also work with couples planning weddings here and throughout Los Angeles, bringing a consistent approach to timing, sound, energy, and of course their vision!

Courtyard Wedding Ceremonies at Ebell Long Beach

Ceremonies at Ebell Long Beach typically take place in the venue’s main space known as the Courtyard. Despite the name, the Courtyard is an expansive indoor space with skylights, just inside the front entrance of the venue.

The room is large and open, creating a dramatic setting for the start of the celebration. One of the most memorable moments for many couples is descending the iconic staircase into the Courtyard to walk the aisle or join their guests following the ceremony.

Because of the size of the space, proper speaker placement is essential. When the sound is balanced correctly, it becomes perfect for background music to set the tone as guests arrive, romantic and full as the bride walks the ailse, clear for vows, and some kick to start the celebration after the kiss!

After the ceremony, guests usually move toward the parlor where the bar is located, while the ceremony seats begins to clear and are replaced with cocktail tables.

Cocktail hour often spreads between the Parlor and the surrounding areas near and in the Courtytard. Because guests naturally overflow into different parts of the venue, placing a satellite speaker in the Parlor helps keep the music connected to the main system so the atmosphere remains consistent throughout the space.

This allows guests to relax, enjoy drinks, and mingle freely while I DJ live.

Cocktail Hour in the Parlor

Dinner at Ebell Long Beach typically takes place in the venue’s Grand Hall, which provides a slightly more intimate setting for the meal and toasts before guests return to the Courtyard for dancing.

The Grand Hall’s architectural details and historic charm create a beautiful setting for dinner service. The pillars and decorative elements add character while giving planners flexibility to design the space in a variety of styles.

Because the venue uses multiple rooms throughout the evening, thoughtful coordination allows guests to enjoy each space in a unique way. Klink Events knows the rooms and flow of this venue extremely well, helping weddings run smoothly from start to finish while being beautiful. Their attention to detail, paired with their design, has also landed them on the preferred list of vendors here.

Dinner in the Grand Hall

After dinner and toasts conclude in the Grand Hall, guests return to the Courtyard where the dance floor opens for the rest of the evening.

Since the Courtyard is a large and open space, guests can spread out comfortably while still gathering around the dance floor as the night kicks off. Photo booths and lighting works wonders in this room!

Because of the size of the room, speaker placement becomes especially important. Running speakers down the length of the Courtyard allows the sound to be evenly distributed and makes it possible to rotate the speakers depending on the portion of the evening — ceremony, dinner, or dancing.

When balanced correctly, the sound fills the space while still allowing guests seated nearby to enjoy conversation and watch the dance floor without feeling overwhelmed by sitting behind where the speakers face. The sound is pushed across the dance floor and into the parlor where the bar stays open.

Dancing in the Courtyard

One of the things that makes Ebell Long Beach especially beautiful is how well lighting works within the space.

Because the ballroom is large and includes multiple architectural pillars, uplighting can dramatically transform the room throughout the evening.

During dinner, warm lighting highlights the ornate details of the venue and creates a refined atmosphere. As the night transitions into dancing, lighting can be moved to highlight different spaces and can also change colors to bring ambiance to dinner and bring energy to the dance floor.

The same can be said about Carondelet House, where modern lighting can be used to enhance historical design!

Ebell Long Beach tends to attract couples who want a celebration that feels both elegant and relaxed, allowing guests to appreciate the historic architecture while moving freely between the different rooms.

Planning Your Wedding at Ebell Long Beach

Working at Ebell Long Beach requires a thoughtful approach to sound and event flow because the moments of the celebration take place in different areas of the venue, yet remain connected.

When sound, music, and announcements are balanced correctly, the venue begins to feel fully connected. As the sun fades from the skylights and the pillars begin to glow with a soft candlelight color, guests can spread out and celebrate how they want.
