Hidden hills
DJ

Hidden Hills doesn't feel like Los Angeles. The gates, the winding roads, the equestrian properties tucked behind hedges. It has a quietness to it that the rest of the city doesn't. Relaxed and upscale at the same time. The kind of neighborhood where the houses aren't venues, and that's exactly what makes weddings here feel so personal.

I provide Los Angeles wedding DJ and MC services throughout Southern California, and private estate weddings are some of the most rewarding events I work. No two are the same. Everything has to be figured out on the day, in the space, with the people in front of you.

THE ESTATE

This wedding took place at the groom's parents' home. A beautiful private property with art and sculptures throughout, mature oak trees, and a family history woven into every corner of the space.

The oak tree the couple got married in front of was planted the year the groom was born. That's the kind of detail that makes a private estate wedding impossible to replicate anywhere else.

With 40 guests dressed in their finest, the whole evening felt intimate, intentional, and full of love.
Private estates aren't set up for vendors. There's no loading dock, no designated setup area, no clear path from point A to point B. Arriving early isn't optional, it's essential.

Hidden Hills requires navigating through the gate and down long winding roads before you even reach the property. Once there, the entrance had concrete slabs with grass growing between them, and the gap between slabs was the exact length of my dolly cart. When I tried to hoist it up the step, it wedged on the curb in the grass. Everything had to be unloaded and reloaded by hand.

From there it was careful maneuvering through a home filled with art and sculptures, with family members buzzing around preparing for the day. The key in those moments is staying calm, introducing yourself immediately, and making it clear you're there to support the family and not add to the chaos.

Hidden Hills families have high expectations and a relaxed confidence. Matching that energy from the moment you walk in sets the tone for the whole day.

ARRIVING AT A PRIVATE ESTATE

The groom was a cinematographer. He had a clear vision for how he wanted the day to look, which angles mattered for photos and video, and where equipment should and shouldn't be visible. I was happy to work within that vision and the wonderful Lex Photo + Film rather than default to the easiest setup position.

For the ceremony, I used a single speaker tucked against the guest house, completely out of sightlines, with a wireless mic, wind cover, and mic stand for the officiant. It remained clean, invisible, and clear through cocktail hour.

For dinner, speeches, and dancing I brought out the full setup with large speakers and a subwoofer positioned for warm, even coverage across the outdoor space.

SETUP AND SOUND

This is where the evening became something genuinely special.

For the first dance, I ran a backing track while the groom's father played trumpet live over the system. This was something no DJ set list could have created.

For the mother-son dance, the groom's brother sang live while playing guitar, plugged directly into my system. I ran the wireless mic on a stand and managed the levels in real time to balance his voice and guitar against the room.

Two of the most personal moments of the night were made possible by the family's own musicians. My role was to give them the technical support to make it happen seamlessly, and then stay out of the way

LIVE MUSIC INTEGRATION

"Connor absolutely crushed it. He is the best wedding DJ ever and I couldn't have been happier with how prepared and professional he was. He also cleans up fantastically lol."

I'll take it as a compliment that I clean up well because the groom introduced himself to me after I had changed into my three-piece suit and had music playing for guests. He didn't recognize me as the same person who had been setting up equipment an hour earlier in shorts and a Frawleywood t-shirt.

That's how it should work. The setup is invisible, and by the time guests arrive, all they see is a polished professional ready to make their day great.

THE REVIEW

Catering was handled by the wonderful Chef Dora Presents.

Chef Dora is also opening a new venue called Ocean Canyon in Palos Verdes, which is one to watch for South Bay couples looking for special views and memorable food.

THE FOOD

Private estate weddings in Hidden Hills and throughout Los Angeles require a DJ who can figure things out in real time. Sound placement, load-in logistics, live music integration, and staying invisible until the moment you're needed.

If you're planning a wedding at a private estate in Hidden Hills, Malibu, Beverly Hills, or anywhere in Los Angeles, I'd love to connect.
